You know, it's important to love people. We can't be effective ministers and not love them. In fact, we can't be Christians and not love people.
As Scripture says, "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16 KJV).
When you get the love of God in your heart, you begin to love not the things of the world but the people in the world. You begin to have compassion toward others and you desire to see God do things in their lives.
As you take your
eyes off yourself and start looking around you, you'll be able to see the people and the needs they have.
What will cause us to change? Spending some time with Jesus! Searching the Holy Scriptures, asking God to help us in our weakness and all of our short comings. We must be honest with God about us, not anyone else, but us.
As I mentioned before, the things you look at are the things you will begin to reflect. The Bible says in Job 31:1 KJV that Job had made a covenant with his eyes by saying, "I won't look lustfully at a woman."
Sometimes we need to make some covenants with our eyes and say: "I'm not going to look at circumstances and be devastated
by them.
I'm not going to look to the right or to the left. I'm going to keep my eyes on Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. [See Proverbs 4:27, Hebrews 12:2, 1 Timothy 6:15.] Hallelujah!"
