gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what
they had done, and what they had taught. And he said unto them, Come ye
yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many
coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. Mark 6:30-31
Thought for the Day: Rest is a Part of God's Will For Your Life
Reflection for the Day: How Balanced is Your Schedule?
The Word of God speaks to all of the issues of life. Jesus recognized that
the Apostles needed appropriate rest and that this was not possible in
midst of the multitudes. The needs the people brought precluded this from
happening. He instructed the men of God to go off to a secluded area that
they might rest. A balance schedule was essential if they were to remain
effective.
Jesus was committed to the needs of the people yet he recognized the need
to back away that even he might be restored. Do not allow your schedule to
cause you emotional bankruptcy. Invest in those you serve but make sure you
allow for time to regain your effectiveness. Insist on an properly balance
schedule.
