A Few Sarcastic Jokes

What Is The Matter With A Few Sarcastic Jokes Once In A While?

The Bible says in Proverbs 26:18-19 that the one who jokes cruelly and deceptively is like a madman who slings firebrands and deadly arrows. That sounds pretty serious, doesn't it?

You see, the things you say not only reflect what is in your heart, but they also affect other people's feelings. Sarcasm is just one of those bad habits that can creep into the way you talk if you aren't careful, especially if you hang around other people who are sarcastic.

A sarcastic joke may seem so innocent. After all, it's just a joke, right? But take a moment to think about how the person on the other end of that joke must feel. Words really do affect people.

"Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, 'I was only joking!'" (Prov. 26:18,19 NIV)

It is God's desire that we use our words to build each other up rather than tear each other down. That's why it's a good idea to steer clear of jokes that use sarcasm and insults to get a laugh.
