Acts 11:23 in the King James Version says: "... when he [Barnabas] came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord."

This was Barnabas's message to those believers: "... that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord." That's something we have to do—in bad times as well as in good times.

We especially need to hang on to God when we are going through the valley. That's when we can't give up. You have to make up your mind to cleave to God with all of your heart. You must make this decision and say boldly: "I don't care what my friends think. I don't care what other people think. I don't even care what the devil thinks! With faith in my heart, I'm going to hang on to God!" People will let you down, disappoint you, misuse you, talk about you, scandalize your name and more, So cleave to God! Just hang on to Jesus and His promises in the Word and don't let go!
