| Are You Deceived About the Way of Salvation? | ||||
To be deceived means that you have been made to believe a lie. The underlying purpose of such deception is that you may be forever damned -- lost! Eternally separated from God and all the blessings He has prepared for you!
Deception began in the Garden of Eden when Satan, in the form of a serpent, deceived Adam and Eve, bringing sin into the world. It will culminate in the soon-to-appear Antichrist --
"Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
"And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
"That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness" (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12).
You do not have to come to this awful end. You can hear and believe the gospel of the grace of God in Christ Jesus, His Son. You can be saved -- born again from above. And "Except a man be born again, he cannot see [understand] the kingdom of God" (John 3:3).
"Be not deceived; God is not mocked [deceived; not to be scorned]: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. "For he that soweth to his flesh [commits sin] shall of the flesh [for that sin] reap corruptioon; but he that soweth to the Spirit [lives a clean and upright life] shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting" (Galatians 6:7,8).
The most treacherous of all deception is that pertaining to our salvation. Satan has devised every imaginable way to make men think they are saved when they are not.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9).
The sinner's fleshly nature, inherited from fallen Adam, makes his own works unacceptable to a holy God. But because He SO LOVED us, He gave His only begotten Son to take our place in the judgement for our sins. He shed His blood and died on Calvary IN OUR STEAD. Our sins were laid upon Christ, that His righteousness might be freely imputed to us.
There is no other way to be saved. We must trust Christ's work, which God the Father accepts as ours, because our redemption was purchased at the price of Christ's own lifeblood. The price was too great to allow for any input of man.
So repent of your sin! | ||||
